Once you click on ‘add new’, you’ll be redirected to this page as shown below.
Now we’ll show you how you can add a simple product.
Simple Product
This product category mainly covers most of the products that you sell. It’s a standalone and physical product that can be shipped to the customer. Selling simple products on BSMe2e is easy. You can add the price, SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) and stock details to publish a simple product. While creating a new product, you need to choose ‘Simple Product’ from the dropdown menu. Refer to the sample screenshot below.
A new interface opens where you can add product name, descriptions, product category, attributes, and so on. Select ‘Catalog’, Virtual, or ‘Downloadable’, if applicable.
Note: Virtual or downloadable products do not require shipping and therefore, no costs will be charged for the same.
Under Simple Product, you have three options – 1. Catalog 2. Virtual 3. Downloadable
Adding a Catalog–
Sellers can sell their product catalogs using this option.
Adding a Virtual Product–
Virtual products are non-tangible products that cannot be physically touched and shipped. These are also known as digital products. The process of creating a virtual product is the same as any simple product. Enter all the information such as name, description, categories etc. After clicking on Simple Product, tick the ‘Virtual’ checkbox. When a product is categorized as a simple virtual product, the shipping section disappears from the product settings dropdown menu. Refer to the image below.
Adding Downloadable Products –
Downloadable products are digital goods that you sell on your online store. It can be e-books, posters, songs, games, software, images, and much more.
Firstly, go to Sellers/Products >> Add Product >> Simple Product.
Just like how you’ve added virtual products, tick the downloadable option to make the product downloadable. Once you select the downloadable box, the product settings dropdown will have a new option – ‘Downloadable’. Once you click on this, there will be a host of settings that you need to perform. Refer to the sample screenshot for more clarity.
The setting options are as follows:
Name and File URL– Enter the name of the file and the URL of the downloadable product. The maximum file size should be 2MB.
Download Limit– You can specify the number of times your customer can re-download the product. To give an unlimited re-download option for your customers, keep this field blank. And if you want to add a limit, mention the total number of times a file can be re-downloaded.
Download Expiry– For how many days does the file stays active? This option needs you to specify the expiry date of the link.
Product Settings:
The lower section of the page contains the product data settings. It includes the following –
Inventory – Adding SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) and managing stocks. The inventory section allows you to manage stock for the product individually and define whether to allow backorders and more. It enables you to sell products and allows customers to add them to the cart to buy. Enable the Stock Management option; otherwise, only the ‘Stock status’ option is visible in the Product Data Inventory box. You are responsible for updating the Stock Status. The Sold Individually option should be enabled only if you allow one of the items to be bought in a single order.
