Variable products in BSMe2e let you offer a set of variations on a product, with control over prices, stock, image and more for each variation. They can be used for a product like a shirt or a bag, where you can offer a large, medium and small size and in different colors.
To add a variable product, go to the seller/products option and select the add new option. Select ‘Variable Product’ from the dropdown menu. Add a product title and description.
Once you add all the product details, it’s time to make the relevant product settings. The two main settings for this product type are – Attributes and Variations.
Before creating variations, you need to add attributes. See the example below to understand how to add attributes.
Name the attribute, set values separated by a vertical pipe ‘|’, Enable the ‘visible on the product page’ and ‘use as variation’ checkbox as shown above in the example. Click on Submit option to publish the settings.
With attributes created, you can now go to the Variations section in the Product data meta box. You’ll find the following options:
You can create the default product attributes manually. The default form values are the attributes that will be selected by default for that product. Also, this option lets you create your possible variations. Refer to the example below.
In this example, we have selected the variation – Size XL and Color Red. Click on the toggle block on the right-hand side to expand. Add all the details of the product.
If you want to add more variations, again click on the toggle block icon. Now choose the ‘Add New Block’ icon. You’ll be able to see new fields as shown in the sample screenshot below.
Just like you added the first variation, similarly, you can add as many possible variations as you want.
In this option, the sellers can add multiple variations of a product to their cart from a single form. The bulk form will simplify the ordering process for those who want to order multiple variations of the same product at the same time. Shoppers always appreciate having a simple and efficient way to order products from your shop. Bulk Variation Forms makes it easy and convenient for them to order everything they need.
Select ‘Create Variations from All Attributes’.
You’ll see a popup notification saying – Are you sure you want to link all variations? This will create a new variation for each and every possible combination of variation attributes (max 50 per run). Click ‘OK’ to proceed.
You’ll see all the combinations of variations. Add the images, descriptions, and other details of the product. Select the ‘Submit’ option to publish your product.
Since we have added the product red shirt with size XXL as a default variation, your product will be displayed as:
You can check the variations as shown below. We have added two color variations here – red and green.
You can now go ahead and make the rest of the settings like inventory, shipping, linked, SEO, gallery video, FAQs, product policies, and advanced settings.
